General Maximus is the head of the armies of the North of the Roman Empire, faithful servant of Marcus Aurelius. While the latter is old and dying, he confides to Maximus that he intends to cede him the powers to lead Rome, trusting on the values of his general and his capacity to gather and guide men to, one day, make Rome a republic under the control of the Senate. When Commodus, the son of Marcus Aurelius, learns of this decision. He kills his father and condemns Maximus to death. The general manages to escape his executioners but will not arrive in time to save his family. Indeed, back home, he discovers the corpses of his wife and son, executed under the orders of the new emperor Commodus...Maximus is captured and enslaved before being sold to a gladiator trainer named Proximo. Proximo teaches Maximus that the most important thing is to conquer the crowd if he ever wants to regain his freedom, but doesn't know that this is not the freedom the former general is looking for. He only wants to avenge the death of his family. With the victories, Maximus sees himself gradually getting closer to Rome until he has to fight at the Colosseum. It is at the end of an impressive spectacle that Maximus conquers the Roman crowd and draws on him the attention of Commodus. When Commodus asks the brave gladiator who he is, he discovers Maximus' true identity and understands that he has returned for revenge. The Senate seizes this opportunity to try to overthrow Commodus. The emperor understands that he can lose everything: the love of his loved ones, the Roman people and power and decides to confront Maximus in the arena of the Colosseum, offering the opportunity for the ancient Roman general to take revenge and fulfill the last wishes of Marcus Aurelius by returning to Rome all his greatness.Funko proposes a POP figurine of Maximus presented in his costume of Roman general. Contrary to the other Maximus figures, this POP from the movie Gladiator presents the character in a more "rich" outfit. We find Maximus wearing his golden and richly decorated armor of fighter. There are many details on the different parts of the armor: the torso, the shoulder pads, the protections that Maximus wears on the wrists or legs. On the figurine, Maximus holds his sword firmly in his right hand and is presented in a fighting posture. Finally, for this Gladiator POP, Funko proposes a figurine very faithful to the character as we can see it in the first scenes of the movie Gladiator. We recognize perfectly the physical features of the actor Russell Crowe in the film.
