Mulch Diggems is one of the characters in Artemis Fowl. This goofy dwarf and kleptomaniac possesses extraordinary abilities related to his dwarf condition: digging and swallowing earth, asphyxiating with a gas he releases or relying on his overdeveloped strength.We know relatively little about Mulch's youth, but we do know that he lost his magic when he entered a human dwelling. He willingly bartered his powers in exchange for the opportunity to steal treasures from humans. These numerous thefts have led to his repeated arrests.While in prison, Mulch is offered a deal by LEP officers to reduce his sentence by 50 years if he agrees to break into the Fowl mansion. The objective: to determine if the agent Holly Short who is held there by Artemis is still alive on the one hand, but also to discover what Artemis is using to unmask the People.Accepting the deal, Mulch was sent to scout Artemis Fow. It was there that he discovered a copy of the Book and tried to steal it before being surprised by Butler, whom he managed to knock out. He is dressed in his camouflage outfit on which he also wears a big brown coat.
