Beth Harmon, real name Elizabeth Harmon, is the main character of the Netflix mini-series "The Queen's Gambit". The story tells the story of Beth's journey from her placement in an orphanage to her chess tournaments around the world, most notably the World Championships in Russia where Beth Harmon will face the only player she fears: Vasily Borgov.Beth learns chess from Mr. Shaibel, the caretaker of the Methuen orphanage. She quickly shows impressive qualities for the game and becomes addicted to it. Addiction is one of Beth's torments, and her passion for chess is unfortunately not the main one. Indeed, as a child she already suffers from an addiction to antidepressants, then as an adult to alcohol... Anxiolytics are for her a way to lock herself in her bubble and free her brain.Funko chose to represent Beth Harmon in a very fashionable outfit on this POP figurine. We find the young woman in a green dress with a knot at the collar, reminiscent of the fashion of the 50s! This is the outfit she wears during the tournament taking place in Paris where she faces the Russian world champion for the first time. The color of her dress echoes the antidepressant capsules that she takes, and testifies to the phase when the pressure makes her sink even more into addiction. On the POP, we find the elegant redheaded young woman she has become over the course of the episodes. Paris makes her dream, she is particularly well dressed and her outfit doesn't betray the night of debauchery she has just lived through, most certainly costing her the victory in the tournament...This POP figure of Elisabeth Harmon is the cliché of the scene where she confronts Borgov since, on the figure, she is represented moving a pawn. A perfect POP for all fans of The Queen's Gambit!
