Barbie is a line of fashion dolls first introduced by Mattel in March 1959. American businesswoman Ruth Handler is credited with the creation of the doll using a German doll called Bild Lilli as her inspiration.
Barbie is also the name of the name of the doll most prominently featured in the line, and has appeared as a character in various media, notably the Toy Story films and an eponymous media franchise.
