Starlight (real name Annie January) is one of the main characters in the Amazon series The Boys. She is a member of the Seven, a group of superheroes. She was briefly excommunicated from the group after it was discovered that she was a mole and an ally of the Boys...Starlight (Starlight in VO) is as down-to-earth and sincere as it gets; the girl next door with superpowers. And as Starlight, "the defender of Des Moines," all she's ever wanted to do is save the world - and while many people say that's a cheesy catchphrase, she really means it. So when she is selected to join the Seven, it is her dream come true. But that dream becomes her worst nightmare when this young Midwestern woman arrives in New York and learns that the old adage "never meet your heroes" is true...Starlight has always been in the spotlight, often attending superhero events as a child. She is selected to be one of the Seven after interviewing following Lamplighter's retirement. She is initially thrilled to have been selected, but is sexually assaulted when The Deep sexually assaults her in The Name of the Game.Her membership in the Seven comes at a price, however, as she is forced to disregard her morality in exchange for Vought International's profit. At first, she disregards Vought's attitude toward fighting criminals, appalled that her patrols are organized for her in Cherry, she steps out of the way after saving a woman from two muggers - much to Vought's anger, but is praised after getting positive publicity for the Seven.Starlight eventually steps out of the way as a member of the Seven at Believe's EXPO, during which she expresses her anger at Vought and the world in general. However, she soon realizes that membership in the Seven comes at a cost, following threats and warnings from Homelander.At heart, Annie is an idealist and one of the few "Supers" who truly wants to help others and do what she believes is right. She cares little for publicity, as she is uncomfortable with the amount of attention she receives from the media and the pressure she faces to change her costume to become a model of excessive sexuality for young girls.She also suffered from impostor syndrome in her early days as a member of the Seven, as she had yet to perform any notable heroic acts.
