Edward Scissorhands is the creation of an inventor living in a castle. He creates the young man by giving him a brain to think and a heart to love but dies before completing his invention. Result: Edward has scissors and blades in place of his hands...The Boggs family, under the impetus of the mother Tinka, takes in the young Edward and tries to integrate him into society despite his differences. Edward gradually opens up to others. He became the star of the neighborhood and was in great demand to trim the hedges, groom the animals and soon became the trendy hairdresser for all the women in the community.Edward's life becomes more complicated when his feelings for Kim, the daughter of his foster family, become more complicated. He agrees to rob a house, gets arrested by the police, then accidentally injures Kim and finally Kevin while trying to save him. He then runs away, convinced that the others are right and that he is evil. He goes back to his castle...Pursued by Jim, Kim's jealous boyfriend, the two men engage in a fight where Edward mortally wounds Jim. Since then, he has been a recluse in his castle, continuing to beautifully carve hedges and snow on the town by sculpting imposing statues of ice.For this POP of Edward Scissorhands, there is a nod to Tim Burton's masterpiece as it reprises one of the scenes from the film. Edward is holding a kirigama (paper cut-out) representing a frieze of characters he made when Kevin (the foster family's son) brings Edward to his school.On the POP we find Edward, who we can guess is smiling despite his sheepish look. His black mouth hints at a relatively happy look, proud to use his talents that were once a handicap.We recognize the features of actor Johnny Depp and Edward is dressed in Bill Bogss' clothes over his black jumpsuit. He holds the kirigama with the tip of his scissors and blades that act as a hand. The red of the paper gives a very successful effect that contrasts with the dark colours of Edward's hair and the pale colours of his face.
