Rajesh Koothrappali is one of the main characters of The Big Bang Theory series. Rajesh, originally from India, works in the Physics Department at Caltech University in Pasadena with his three friends and colleagues Leonard, Sheldon and Howard and is an expert in astrophysics. He is Howard's best friend, and Howard calls him Raj, like the other characters in the band. One of Raj's main characteristics is his great shyness which makes him unable to talk to women unless he is under the influence of alcohol, which will obviously create many comic situations.
