Alphonse Elric is one of the two Elric brothers at the center of the plot in Fullmetal Alchemist. Of the two Elric brothers, Alphonse is the one who has the most head on his shoulders. While Edward Elric is a hothead, Alphonse, on the other hand, is more temperate and pusillanimous in his behavior. Calmer and above all, more reasonable, he is the more serious of the two in all circumstances. Or almost. For Alphonse Elric, despite the curse he is the victim of, suffers from a much deeper evil.It was not enough that he was only a soul locked in a hollow steel armor. He had to have a flaw on top of everything else; a weakness he could not escape... This man of steel, having no more flesh or blood, has however a heart too big for his good. Indeed, Alphonse can't help but feel affection for the cats he meets. This turns into something pathological as he can't help but seek their company, and Funko decided to make a nod to this aspect of Alphonse Elric's personality with this POP where we discover him surrounded by cats!With his imposing stature, one might expect to see Alphonse as a relentless character, straight and stiff as justice. This is to forget that he remains a young boy locked in a giant and empty armor. Unlike human beings who still have a carnal envelope, Alphonse, after losing his body, no longer feels the physiological needs of a human. He is no longer hungry, thirsty or, above all, sleepy. He spends his nights waiting, alone. So, to overcome this loneliness as cold as the steel of his armor, he has taken a liking to cats with whom he plays and even shelters in his armor...The fact that he has a hollow armor as a body allows him to shelter many cats inside. Their meows echo through the steel frame as if they were Alphonse's voice trying to hide them as best as possible.The POP figurine of Alphonse Elric with the kittens physically transcribes all the burlesque of his whim. While Alphonse Elric's usual armor looks imposing and even terrifying, it suddenly seems much more harmless on this POP figure where three kittens have taken up residence in Alphonse's arms... A nice wink from Funko who represented Alphonse Elric with a cat in each arm and one at his feet on this figure. Such a cute presentation allows us to discover the character in a different light as far as his appearance is concerned.Indeed, the Alphonse Elric POP figure with kittens seems far from being formidable while the ribs on his helmet take another very comical shape. What looked like steel jaws then appears as the mouth of a small cat. There is no doubt that the cats make Alphonse more sympathetic and help highlight the fact that he is just a boy stuck in an armor that looks nothing like him physically or even morally. In this sense, the Pop figurine of Alphonse Elric with the kittens does him justice by showing how cute the character can be.
