Mulan is the heroine of the famous eponymous cartoon, a creation of the Disney studios released in 1988. The story is inspired by the Chinese legend Hua Mulan. Mulan is a brave and independent girl, clumsy and outspoken. She is the only daughter of Fa Zhou, a former war hero who has since been wounded, and Fa Li. Her mother is trying to marry her, and for that, Mulan is going to meet the matchmaker. As usual, she arrives late, her hair untied with straw. Her mother and grandmother help her get dressed, starting with a shower, then make-up and hairdressing and finally wedding outfit. Before meeting the matchmaker, her grandmother gives her a blue cricket as a good-luck charm. Unfortunately, the cricket will not bring her luck at all, Mulan is a bit clumsy in front of the matchmaker and the meeting ends in a humiliating failure. Back home, she learns that the emperor has decreed the conscription of one man per family to join the army and protect the country following the invasion of the Huns. The Fa family is then called to join the army. Not having a boy, Fa Zhou, agrees to defend the country, for honor despite his old age and war wounds. Mulan begs his father not to go, he is too old and walks with a cane. But for his father, it is a matter of honor and pride. In the night, Mulan decides to pretend to be a man and go into battle in his father's place. After a prayer to the ancestors, she retrieves the conscription order from her parents' bedroom and replaces it with her flower brooch. She then cuts her hair and ties it with a green ribbon, puts on her father's old armour and runs away with her horse Khan in the middle of the night. On the way, she meets the little dragon Mushu who comes to help her in her adventure.When she arrives at the camp, she introduces herself in the name of Fa Ping and follows a training course given by Shang, General Li's son, who has to train all the new recruits. At first, she is very clumsy but will be the first soldier to solve one of Shang's riddles. She progresses and becomes the best soldier in the unit and makes friends: Yao, Ling and Cheng Po. When Shan Yu's attack in the mountain, Mulan triggers an avalanche by pointing a cannon at the side of the mountain, which carries everyone away. She succeeds in saving Shang and are themselves saved by the arrow attached to a rope thrown by Yao. Injured, she is treated by the doctor who discovers that she is a woman and denounces her to Shang who spares her because she saved his life. Later, Shan Yu and some of the men manage to get out of the snow and infiltrate the palace to attack the emperor. Once again, it is Mulan who saves everyone with his intelligence and courage. The emperor stoops down in front of Mulan to thank her, gives her the sword of Shan Yu and a medallion as a sign of gratitude.On this Pop! figurine, Funko represents Mulan in his Ping soldier outfit.
