The Sphinx is a creature from Greek mythology. If its origins are confused, the most famous episode is its confrontation with Oedipus where the Sphinx, protecting the city of Thebes, proposes to the Greek hero to solve an enigma in order to let him pass. The riddle: "What walks on all fours in the morning, two at lunchtime and three in the evening? "became famous. If Oedipus succeeds in answering it correctly, the Sphinx will free the city (in fact, he even committed suicide), otherwise he will devour his prey. After reflection, Oedipus answers correctly: "It's Man" because in the morning of his life, the baby walks on all fours, at noon he walks with both legs, and in the evening of his life he uses a cane, thus walking on three legs.Funko pays a beautiful tribute to one of the most popular creatures in mythology by representing the Sphinx. We recognize the feminine look of the monster whose face (especially the eyes and mouth) looks like it's wearing make-up. A small Marylin Monroe-style mole accentuates this effect. The POP of the Sphinx represents it as it is described in mythology: a woman's face, a lion's body and wings on its back. In addition, its tail ends with the head of a beautifully represented snake. Finally, this Sphinx figurine is rich in detail: sharp teeth coming out of its mouth, open wings, the face of the snake and the golden armour that protects the creature's chest. A very nice POP for all mythology lovers!
