The Cyclops is an easily recognizable creature from Greek mythology: a huge monster with only one eye in the middle of its forehead. Among the best known of them are the three Uranian Cyclops brothers: Brontes, Steropes and Arges. They are the children of Ouranos and Gaia, but their father being afraid of the force of these three colossuses preferred to lock them up in Tartarus (synonymous with the prison of the underworld). It is only once freed by Chronos that they will overthrow their father.Another Cyclops among the best known, and it is the one we can assume that Funko chose to represent on this POP, is Polyphemus. He lives entrenched in a cave in present-day Sicily near the volcano Etna. As Ulysses returns from the Trojan War, he and his companions are captured by the Cyclops. In order to escape, Ulysses sets up a multi-stage ruse to deceive the monster. First, he tells him his name is "Nobody", then he makes him drunk with wine? Once the Cyclops is drunk, he builds a stake to pierce the monster's eye. The monster then asks for help from his companions, assuring them that "Nobody" is trying to kill him. The latter laugh at Polyphemus' stupidity and do not come to his aid. Finally, wanting to let his sheep out of the cave, the Cyclops does not realize that Ulysses and his companions have tied themselves up against the sheep, thus managing to escape! With this POP figure of the Cyclops, Funko tackles a new myth in Greek mythology and unveils a magnificent achievement. We find an imposing green-skinned creature whose appearance easily testifies to its brutality. As for his physique, the main element is of course the single eye in the middle of his forehead, but other details have not been omitted: the horns on his skull, the pointed canines that go up, the big nose and the beard necklace of the Cyclops. Finally, as accessories, the Cyclops is dressed in a simple garment made from the wool of his sheep, a belt around his waist and holds in his right hand the club with which he knocks out his enemies to make his meal!
