Maui is one of the important characters in Moana, the cartoon inspired by Disney's Polynesian legends. The cartoon begins by telling the legend of the creation of the Polynesian islands: the goddess Te Fiti created life through the power of her heart before settling in the middle of the sea, taking the shape of an island. But one day, Maui, demigod of the wind and the metamorphic sea came to this island to steal Te Fiti's heart in the hope of giving the power of creation to men and to have their love. Maui possesses the power to metamorphose into any creature thanks to his magic hook. Deprived of her heart, the goddess Te Fiti disintegrates and spreads chaos on the island. Life around her is dying: the vegetation disappears to make way for a huge black island. Maui succeeds in leaving the island with his heart but he still has to face a monster that appears on the sea: the lava and fire demon Te Ka who also coveted the heart. In this fight, Maui was struck by lightning and lost his hook in the ocean as well as Te Fiti's heart.A thousand years later, the little Moana, heroine of the film, finds the stone on the beach while she is collecting shells: she doesn't know it yet, but the ocean chose her to accomplish the mission of restoring Te Fiti's heart. A few years later, when she is a teenager, life on the island is dying, the fish are deserting the sea and the trees are producing only rotten coconuts. As the future chief of the Motuini tribe, Moana proposes to go beyond the reef to find food. But his father Tui forbids him to do so.With the support of her dying grandmother, she decides to return the heart to Te Fiti. For this mission, she will be accompanied by Maui, who is at the origin of this catastrophe. Maui is a rather pretentious and malicious character. He has a massive physique and is rather tall. His magic hook gives him the power to metamorphose into any creature. On his body, he has tattoos that can come to life like at the beginning of his meeting with Moana where he illustrates his life through his tattoos. One of them represents Mini Maui, a tattooed representation of the real Maui and which acts as the consciousness of the latter. This Pop! figurine takes up the physical characteristics of the character: big and massive, strong with big muscles and a prominent belly. Its appearance is in accordance with the beauty criteria of Polynesia. On his torso and arm, we find the many blue tattoos he has in the movie, very well reproduced by Funko. He wears a leaf loincloth that he hung around his waist with twisted wire and wears a necklace of teeth around his neck. In his left hand, he is holding his magic hook. On the side of his face, one recognizes his brown skin and his long, thick, curly hair pulled back and separated by a parting in the middle.
