Beth Harmon is the main character in the Netflix series The Lady's Game. The series follows the girl's journey from her arrival in the Methuen orphanage when she was only 7 or 8 years old to her participation in the World Chess Championship in Russia. When the story begins, Elizabeth has just miraculously survived a car accident in which her mother died. Placed in an orphanage, she escaped by playing chess, a game discovered with the cleaning man Mr. Shaibel, who plays it alone in the basement. The latter teaches her to play and realizes day after day that the little girl, less than ten years old, is very gifted.Mr. Shaibel suggests that Beth play against players from a chess club to confirm her abilities. She annihilates every player in the club with disconcerting ease, opening the doors to a professional future despite the fact that very few women played chess in the 50s, and none at a professional level.Beth will first participate in tournaments to earn money. It is Mr. Shaibel who will give her the 5 dollars needed to register for her first tournament. She will reinvest the money won in the following tournaments, in chess games and in books. But also in clothes because Beth loves fashion.Winning tournament after tournament, she eventually defeated Benny Watts, the U.S. champion, and earned her place at the world championships in Russia. The opportunity to face the only player who frightens her: Vasily Borgov, the Russian world champion. She had had the opportunity to face him in Paris (see Beth Harmon's POP in her green dress at the Paris tournament), but had lost violently to the brutal play of her opponent.Funko proposes a POP figurine where we find Beth Harmon in the outfit she wears during the last episode, after her victory and the obtaining of her title of world champion. Beth is at the top of her game, she has achieved worldwide fame and her outfit reflects the happiness and confidence she has gained. At the POP, Beth Harmon wears an all-white outfit. It is a warm outfit because she is in Russia. She wears white heeled shoes, white pants, a long white coat and a hat with a pompom. The figurine reminds the end scene where Beth is walking in a Moscow park, recognized by people playing chess on tables in the park, she then agrees to play a game against one of them. The POP figure from the finale of The Queen's Gambit is a beautiful tribute to the series and to the character of Beth Harmon. It is certainly the only moment in the series where the young woman is happy and peaceful. If we find Beth's red hair on the figurine, the POP especially lets pass the emotions of this last episode where Beth is finally happy!
