Homelander, who is sometimes called John by Vought International, is the main antagonist of the Amazon series The Boys. He is also one of the two main antagonists of season 2 (with Stormfront). He is the leader of the Seven and the main enemy of Billy Butcher, the leader of the Boys. With the face of a movie star and the power of a god, Homelander is considered the greatest living superhero and leader of the Seven. Not only can he fly, but he also has super strength and super hearing, and he can see through almost anything (except zinc) with his x-ray vision, then destroy it with his laser eyes.On the surface, he is affable, modest and sincere, the ultimate boy scout, an American treasure, a God-fearing patriot. But like mere mortals, even superheroes have their secrets...Homelander was raised in a laboratory, surrounded by doctors like Jonah Vogelbaum, who called him John. For not having a mother figure, Vogelbaum noticed that The Protector had become violent, aggressive and downright hateful ("The Self-Preservation Society"). As a child, he was subjected to hours of sitting in front of a projector, viewing images that were chosen to shape his personality, such as the American flag, Jesus Christ, and baseball. He had a mother figure, a female doctor, but she was killed by Homelander himself when he was young and innocent, after he hugged her hard, accidentally breaking her spine. Prior to his death, he had caused similar incidents to countless other tutors, a behavior that was usually motivated by outrage, but this time caused by isolation-induced depression.Homelander's mission has always been to serve Vought International and, on a deeper level, Madelyn Stillwell. Homelander is rational, initially concerned about Translucent's disappearance in the Cherry while the rest of Vought, and the world, ignored him. He is a ruthless leader, doing whatever it takes to maintain a good public opinion of the Seven, including threatening Starlight and The Deep. Homelander depicts the true extent of his anger in the episode You Found Me, killing Stillwell for lying to him about Becca Butcher and her child. As a person, he is deeply narcissistic, disturbed and psychotic, showing no empathy. For a superhero, Homelander is incredibly brutal and aggressive, throwing a bank robber in the air and dropping him to his death and brutalizing A-Train. He is very smart as he has a meticulous plan to get superheroes into the military, and he is also charismatic, easily influencing the public to support him. His characteristics are perfectly reflected in the POP figure that Funko dedicates to him.Indeed, Homelander's POP figure represents him in his hero's outfit, with his pale face, his hair perfectly combed back and his red eyes that we can guess pulverizing an obstacle or an enemy. The Protector's posture on the figure leaves no doubt as to the character's coldness, and in this sense it is more than faithful to the series!
