Wallace is the main character in Braveheart. Interpreted by Mel Gibson, the film takes place in the 13th century in Scotland, then under English occupation. King Edward I of England reigns over this country and imposes his law.William Wallace, as for him, was raised abroad after his father and brother were killed by the soldiers of the King of England. He returns to Scotland, determined to marry his childhood sweetheart and live a peasant life far from the political and warlike turmoil.Nevertheless, misfortune strikes Wallace again when his wife is killed by a sheriff in the king's pay.
