Renji Abarai will have been one of these allies of the main character as we often find them in Nekketsu and who often attract the sympathy of the spectators. Although he was able to finish off Ichigo, Rukia - his lifelong comrade - found a way to dissuade him from doing so.Although he appeared to be a cruel and ruthless protagonist, Renji was actually trying to make himself look good to his superiors. The news that Rukia - whom he had brought before the Justice of Gotei 13 - was sentenced to death, shook his convictions and allegiance.
