The Beast is the hero of the movie Beauty and the Beast adapted from the Disney cartoon. The story is inspired by a classic tale from the eighteenth century. Originally, the Beast is a young prince who lives in a sumptuous castle with his servants. He is a selfish and arrogant man who refuses to take in an old woman in exchange for a rose. This woman is actually a witch and to punish him, she turns him into a monstrous beast. She also casts a spell on the entire castle and the occupants who become talking objects. The curse will be lifted only if the Beast manages to love and be loved by a woman with her monster appearance. Years later, a man enters the castle to seek refuge during a storm. The Beast is furious and locks him in. To free him, his daughter Belle offers to become a servant at the castle. The Beast frees Maurice without letting Belle kiss him goodbye.The servants at the castle think that the young woman could break the spell and encourage the Beast to make an effort. The Beast then learns to become a gentleman. At first cold with Belle, the Beast gives her a room and permission to circulate everywhere in the castle except the west wing, where the enchanted rose, symbol of his secret, is located. Curious, Belle ventures into this famous forbidden room, where she discovers a torn portrait and a rose under a bell she is about to touch. The Beast emerges, mad with rage and asks her to come out screaming. Scared, Belle leaves the castle but is attacked by a pack of wolves. The Beast comes to save her but is injured in the fight. Belle looks after him and thanks him for saving her life. A complicity then develops between Belle and the Beast, they even discover a common passion: reading and the Beast takes her to the great library of the castle. Belle falls in love with the Beast and breaks the spell.In the Disney cartoon, the Beast looks like a monster, he has the body of a bear, pointed teeth, a head, buffalo horns with a lion's mane and finally wolf paws. Of his human life, he only keeps his eyes which are blue. He is cruel and angry but under his mask hides a sensitive heart.
