Jim Hopper is one of the main characters in Stranger Things. He is the chief of police of the small town of Hawkins and has relatively little work in this town where nothing ever happens. If he is very honest and professional, Hopper shows a certain slackness by being not very assiduous on the schedules, and this since the drama which turned his life upside down.Indeed, if Jim Hopper is so cold and withdrawn, it is because he has lost interest in life since his little daughter died of cancer. This trust will allow Hopper to find Will and return him to his mother.
