Mushu is one of the main characters in the cartoon inspired by a Chinese legend, Mulan. Mushu is the little dragon, former guardian of the Fa family. He's a fire-breathing dragon, he's prankster and self-centered. In these physical characteristics, he looks like a traditional Chinese dragon with his long tail and a pair of moustaches. He has been demoted to the position of incense burner and gong ringer since he failed to protect a family member. He first appears in the cartoon when the ancestors call upon him to awaken the stone dragon to protect Mulan, who has gone into battle. After several attempts to awaken the stone dragon, Mushu inadvertently wipes it to pieces and makes the ancestors believe that he has succeeded and that the dragon is on its way to protect Mulan. Together with Cri-Kee, he will decide to go himself to protect Mulan and make her a war hero to regain her place as the family's guardian and regain the esteem of the ancestors who don't even consider him a real dragon. With Cri-Kee, he forms an adorable and comic duo, as the two have completely different characters. Mushu is egocentric and impulsive while Cri-Kee is rather cautious and altruistic.
