Defeated, the Smith program will then create a backup in the Exile, which will later allow him to return to the forefront not as a program, but as a virus. A fearsome virus that will be as damaging to humans as the Matrix itself. Indeed, by using his new features, Agent Smith will be able to duplicate himself by copying himself on the mind of the Matrix's victims. This ability, along with many others, will allow him to be a strong rival for Neo as well as his final opponent. At least, before the fourth opus of The Matrix takes place.Agent Smith will even go so far as to insert himself into the mind of a human being in the real world in order to eliminate them beyond the Matrix.
